Born
in Saint Ignace, Michigan, I grew up on a small farm that supplied draft horses
to the nearby historic Mackinac Island resort community. Early on I
developed a love for the outdoors and for reading.
I majored
in English and upon graduating from college went to work as an
editor and copywriter for Carson-Dellosa, an educational publisher in Greensboro,
N.C. I then moved into the technology sector in North Carolina's Research
Triangle as an editor for the International
Society of Automation's
InTech magazine.
When the bottom fell out of the technology market in 2002, I went into
scientific book publishing where I managed the Taylor
& Francis Group’s publishing
program for environmental
science and engineering books.
I served five years as senior editor for the Journal of Accountancy
where I wrote articles and managed coverage of corporate finance and
international issues for the monthly magazine’s 400,000 readers.
Currently I manage employee communications for LabCorp, a Fortune 500 company that provides clinical laboratory services throughout the U.S. and Canada. I also write realistic fiction to better understand myself and the world around me.
